MAKE YOUR MOVE ON THE DANCE FLOOR FRIDAY, MARCH 8 th is our annual Dance-a-thon Fundraiser! Put on your dancing shoes and help raise funds to support Fern School Council’s annual DANCE-A-THON.   This is one of our main fundraisers of the year and we need everyone’s support to make it a success. All classes will be dancing at different times throughout the day and parents are welcome to join in the fun.   Check out the laser show in the auditorium and try out some new dance moves with our friends from Broadway Arts Centre.   DJ James will be spinning the tunes and students will help compile the playlists.     Donation Sheets will be sent home this Tuesday (Feb. 26) so please check your child’s back pack.    If you would like to help out, please email Pamela – wilson.pamela@sympatico.ca .

The Fern School Council this year formed a new committee to address the needs of the parents of students attending Fern for the first time. To this end, the Orientation Committee has created a Fern Welcome document to be distributed during Information Nights or as part of the registration process that will hopefully make the first day at a new school a little bit easier. Dear Parent/Guardians, Individual Graduation  RETAKE Photographs for grade 8 students will take place on Thursday, February 26th at 9:00am. GRADUATION PHOTO TIPS : Graduation gowns, props and school colours will be provided at our school on photo day. For your graduation photos, the photographers recommend a white blouse for the girls and a white collared shirt and dark tie for the boys. If you still wish to purchase a 11x14 Graduation Class Composite with a vinyl folder please send $22.00  with your child. The minutes for the meeting of the School Council that took place on January 15 are now available for download from the  School Council Minutes  folder on Google Drive. The School Council will next meet on  Thursday, February 28, 2013 , from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. in the school auditorium.

Dear Parents/Guardians and other Members of the Fern Community, The Fern School Council is looking for your input regarding new draft by-laws that will govern the communication and behaviour of members and participants in Fern School Council (FSC) activities. In accordance with the Ministry of Education’s regulation and guidelines, FSC has prepared draft by-laws to: (1) establish a code of conduct; (2) formalize standards expected in communications either to members of FSC or sent on behalf of FSC; (3) establish a conflict resolution process; and (4) identify and address conflicts of interests. The bylaws are in addition to the purpose, roles and responsibilities of FSC that are mandated by Ontario Regulation 612/00. Maggie’s new spring menu begins March 1 featuring new dishes such as gnocchi, baked balsamic chicken and tabouli, plus some old favourites such as burritos, taco salad and chili – all delicious and nutritious. If you haven’t done so already, you can still sign up for the hot lunch program. Download the order form and submit it with your payment in the secure mailbox beside the Ferncliff Daycare office (Room 103). The deadline for March lunch registration is Thursday, February 14 .
