Final School Council Meeting of the School Year - June 12!

EVERYONE WELCOME. Wednesday June 12, 6:30-8:30 It has been a busy, successful year, and we are looking forward to the year ahead! Please join us to review our accomplishments, to discuss how we might improve things, and to plan for next year. October 1, 2019 is our playground fundraising deadline, so we will have a busier Fall than usual. Come hear our plans for one last blitz at the beginning of the 2019/2020, and -- what we've all been waiting for -- help us brainstorm some post-playground goals! Less fundraising? Different fundraising targets? Technology purchases? Art or and music supplies? More parent workshops? More subsidies to families for School Council events? Or maybe we use our increased fundraising capacity to help other schools or organizations? Or, how about more community events: another Pancake Supper? Spaghetti Dinner? Parent Talent Night? Yard Sale? Finally, next year might be a challenging one, so we will need all hands on deck to support publi

Another Great Fern Fun Fair!

Thank you so much to everyone who attended the Fun Fair yesterday! A special thank you to our many, many volunteers who helped make the event a success. We are incredibly grateful to our Fun Fair Committee, Denise Figueiredo, Trish Bentley, Rhonda Borneman, Meghan Greenfield, and Alex Larose for making it happen. Special shout-outs to Connie Behr and Julie Dossett for creating and executing the Haunted Hallway. Just think: 115 volunteers put in at least two hours each on event day, nine students and three parents assembled the Haunted House for three hours Friday night, and the Fun Fair Committee put in at least 50 hours each over the last few weeks in planning the event (probably a gross under-estimate). Rough estimate: it takes over 500 hours of volunteer time to make the Fun Fair happen. Add to that teacher time volunteering on the day, and the time Administration took providing tickets to families that might not otherwise be able to attend, and you have a Herculean communi

This is a timely topic, and important for all parents, especially those of us with tweens and teens who are anxious to get online and participate in social media. You may think that online bullying or "sexting" happens just to older kids, but these are live issues that happen in any age group, and happen right in our h
