Dear Parents/Guardians; What excitement, let the count down begin...GRADUATION is almost here! That's right, Monday, June 22, 2015 we are celebrating our grade 8 graduates.  Please remember your graduates are a wealth of information regarding the day but just in case.... Graduates are asked to please meet with Vera Ciric at PCI between 3:45 and 4:00 for a professional photo group shot Graduates will assemble into PCI  Ceremony will begin at 4:30pm and run to approximately 5:30pm Graduates are to proceed to the LULA Lounge after PCI ceremony, doors will open at 6:00pm, dinner will be served at 6:30pm LULA celebrations will run until 10:00pm, parents/guardians we ask that you kindly pick up your children from LULA no later then 10:30pm Only those students who have written parental consent are able to leave LULA on their own or in groups, no exceptions are to be made Please send a letter indicating you give your child permission to leave, attention Vera Ciric If you hav

Dear Parents/Guardians, Students are expected to be at Fern Avenue PS this Wednesday, June 17th at 7:00 am.  The bus will depart for Montreal shortly after 7. Please note on Friday, June 19th the expected time of the students and the bus arrival to Fern is 7:00pm. WATER SAFETY WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT date: June 8, 2015 time: 9:00am issued to: school boards, municipalities, local conservation authorities, local police, emergency services and media Weather Conditions: Environment Canada has stated that the current weather system may result in approximately 10-20mm of additional rainfall occurring across parts of the Greater Toronto area. The forecasted rain may continue until approximately 2:00PM, with a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Issues: While significant flooding is not expected at this time, the forecasted rainfall will cause higher than normal flows and water levels in Greater Toronto Area creeks and rivers, resulting in unsafe conditions. Hello Fern families! A reminder that this year's Fern Fun Fair is being held on: Saturday June 13 from 10am – 3:00pm. Fern’s hot-lunch program has served more than 30,000 lunches this year to students from JK to grade 8, teachers and staff. After Maggie’s retirement (after more than 30 years at Ferncliff!), TDSB Nutrition Services came onsite to prepare Fern’s lunches, kindersnacks and all Ferncliff Daycare’s meals and snacks. We thank Shelley, Sally and Malcia of TDSB NS for facing the challenge of filling Maggie’s shoes with gusto. Why not sign up for next school year's program right now and take care of all your child's lunches for a year? In September, TDSB NS will introduce a 4-week menu rotation featuring items such as chicken cacciatore, teriyaki noodles, burger with oven fries, chicken noodle soup, panko-breaded sole, spaghetti and meatballs, burrito, chicken tikka masala and pita pizza. (416-393-9130) MINDFUL PARENTS: RESILIENT TEENS Tuesday, June 9th 2015 7:00-8:30 pm Please join Karen Davis for a presentation on the principles, practices and practical strategies of mindfulness for parents, to support teens to develop resilience. Karen Davis is a retired teacher with 30 years of experience working with children, teachers and parents. She is a mother of two adult sons, and a mindfulness practitioner and teacher.  The presentation will include a taste of mindfulness practice and discussion.
