Dear Parents and Guardians,  The yearbook committee is currently in the process of creating Fern’s 2020/2021 yearbook.  We intend on having many fun sections and details in this yearbook, and one of them is going to be a “Guess Who” section. This section will be filled with photos of students as newborns, infants or young children. We want people to look at the pictures and try to “guess who” everyone is.  So, we ask all the families to send in pictures of the Fern 2020/2021 graduates when they were little. This is not mandatory, so if this is something that you or your family does not feel comfortable with, do not feel obligated to participate.  We hope that this yearbook will be the most successful yet, and we look forward to receiving all of your pictures! With more students spending extended amounts of time at home,  it is more vital than ever they are prepared for how to remain safe at home home and how to look after siblings.  Stayin Alive with First Aid are happy to announce new online Red Cross Approved Babysitting and Stay Safe courses using Google Meet for students to safely attend.  The Babysitting course takes place over 3 days in 2-hour and 20 min increments (the Saturday and Sunday of the first weekend and the Saturday of the second weekend), including some homework.  The Stay Safe course takes place over 2 days in 2-hour and 20 min increments (the Saturday and Sunday), including some homework. The course has been adapted to keep the students engaged while online through the use of games, chat discussions and videos.  Please click on the Babysitting  or  Stay Safe flyers containing updated information about the new course format and how to register children for this life-saving course. Hello Fern Families:  Yesterday afternoon the provincial government announced that schools in Ontario will remain closed to in-person learning after the April break and students will switch to remote learning until further notice. These closures are being put in place to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. This means that beginning Monday, April 19th Fern students will participate in remote online learning through their teachers online platform, Google Classroom or Brightspace .  This is the same as it was during the closure in January and February of this year.  Please know that we are here for you. Please reach out to us if you need anything.  Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to respond to this latest provincial pivot to remote learning.  Keep safe, stay well and hang in there!  Yours in partnership,  R.
