We've had teacher appreciation events over the years, but this year we are trying something new suggested by Princip al Lariviere and Vice Principal Rowe . We're providing a potluck supper to our beloved teachers on Parent-Teacher Interview Night to help them get through a long evening, and to show our appreciation for all their hard work.   But we will need lots of help to get us there!  Volunteers are needed to bring food, set up and clean up after. Fern's blog has been created to facilitate communication, share resources, promote school events, and foster community involvement, ultimately enhancing the school's educational experience.

Score a great costume at Halloween Movie Night !! Drop by before the movie night starts to pick up costumes for $5-$10, or PWYC.   Donate gently used costumes , get tickets for the swap OR just show up for the sale.   Boxes will be outside the main office starting Oct 15 for costume drop off.

Extra Ed is back - and this year, offering both Lunch Clubs and After-school Clubs!  Registration  is now open and programming starts the week of October 28!  Classes include  Science, Drawing and Sketching, Magic, Art, Robotics, Lego, Music, Chess, Drama and Ukulele. Register by October 23 to guarantee your spot! (*Please note these classes are made available for a fee.)

Join us for the first movie night of the year! Plus: popcorn, pizza, bake sale AND a costume swap/sale (more details about that soon)! Thursday Oct 24th in the Fern Auditorium. Doors at 5:30, Show starts at 6 pm. Ticket & popcorn is $5, and there will be pizza from Cicis, drinks and other treats available for purchase that evening. All proceeds from this event go to Fern School Council to help fund in-school enrichment.     It's that time of year again! The louse are back in the house and they like to socialize...Got a letter from your kids' class? Heard on the grapevine about head lice? Families are wondering  how to find it, treat it, and avoid it! First,  don't panic .  This is  not unusual .  It happens every year in the winter and in almost every class of small children.  Most of us will have a bout or two over our public school years, and the more kids you have, the chances are the more times you will see it.  We had a brief reprieve from lice when our behaviour changed during the pandemic, but now that kids are back to their mostly normal routine, our friend the louse has made a comeback.   Second,  anyone can get them ! And it is not a matter of hygiene and it is no reflection on your parenting.  It can be harder to find and control if you have kids with very light coloured hair, long hair or thick hair.  It's also harder to manage when you have multiple kids because the kids c
