On Friday, December 10th , your child(ren) brought home a rapid antigen screening kit for voluntary use during the Winter Break. The rapid antigen screening kits have been provided by the Government of Ontario for every student in a publicly funded school. These kits may be used by any student, regardless of their vaccination status, however, should only be used when a child is asymptomatic (does not have any symptoms of COVID-19) and has not had any exposure to a confirmed case of COVID-19. Please note, your child's participation in this rapid antigen screening is voluntary and is not a required action for return to school after the Winter Break. Thank you for your support as we work together to help keep our school community safe and healthy for all!

School Volleyball and Intramurals: We are so pleased to announce that sports and clubs are back up and running for students 12 and over at Fern. We thank our dedicated staff who volunteer their time during lunch hour, before and after school to support these clubs and sports teams. Our boys and girls and co-ed volleyball teams have begun. We have over 100 students involved! Student Parliament: Our student parliament is very active and busy planning many activities within our school, such as "Fern Fun Week", next week for the whole school - listen to the announcements. Other Clubs: The "Falcon" student led newspaper is already into their second edition. The Photography Club is also up and running and have already gone to the Rail path to take some amazing photos which will be published and displayed in our school. We hope in the new year to have clubs and sports available for our Primary and Junior students once TDSB approval is received. S...

Hello Fern Ave. P.S. Families It's time for our 2nd Annual Toy Drive for the Parkdale Community Food Bank. We're doing it again this year, starting now until Friday, December 17 (last day of school). There are a few ways to donate: 1. Drop off your new toy in the school foyer between now and Friday December 17. 2. Buy directly from PCFB's community sponsor Scooter Girl -- either in person or online -- and ask that your purchase be donated to PCFB 3. Drop off at the neighbourhood drop-off point Roncesvalles United M-F 10-3 or Sun 10-5 between now and December 21 4. Donate directly to https://www.pcfb.ca/donate -- this will go to food as they do not have the capacity to go out shopping this time of year -- but it will be much appreciated. We are not collecting food at present -- that was the first week of December -- but will likely do another food drive mid-winter 2022 as we did last year. Please note that the Parkdale Community Food Ba...

School Cash Online Fund available any minute now.... This campaign has not got off to the start we had hoped. The TDSB is taking longer than anticipated to set up the One and Done fund. We hope we look good in the egg colour we're currently wearing on our faces. We're also hoping our previous instances of having our you-know-what together will convince you that you still should donate. For now, hold onto your $, and we will let you know as soon as the fund is set up. If you have already donated to the GENERAL fund, please hold onto your receipt until we get instructions as to where you should send it to ensure the $ gets to School Council. Thanks so much for your ongoing patience. It has been quite a week. Alison, on behalf of School Council Exec
