Attendance & Safe Arrival

Dear Parents/Guardians, In the hustle and bustle of things we sometimes forget to call the office and report our children absent. Sometimes the teacher has the information but unfortunately the office is not notified of the absence. If we do not know ahead of time or the morning of the absence, an attendance is not generated and therefore you receive the cybervoice robo advising of the students absence. In order to prevent the unnecessary calls I ask that you please notify the "safe arrival" telephone line and or send me a note in advance of holidays, appointments etc. Please feel free to contact me if you should have any further questions or concerns. Thank you, Vera

From The Library: Another Story Book Sales

Our school book fair, put on by Another Story Bookshop, was a great success. Over the course of it's 3-day run from Wednesday, February 14th - Friday February 16th we generated $3,898.00 in sales . Of that amount, our school receives 20% of the sale to purchase new books. Thanks to all parents, students, teachers and members of our community who came out to browse and buy books. If you didn't have the chance to come and visit us while we were set up in the library, you can still visit the store at 315 Roncesvalles Ave . Tell them you're a Fern parent and proceeds of the sale will benefit our school (until the end of this week).

Message from Grade 8 Students

We are a group of grade 8's and we’re doing a project in science class. Our job is to raise awareness, create a documentary and help fix a local issue! Our local issue is wasting water and we were hoping to raise money and earn donations. This will help save our water and keep it clean. There will be a bake sale on Tuesday, February 6 during morning and afternoon recess to raise money for Toronto Water and the Ministry of the Environment. We’ve considered the concerns of the parents and what their children will be eating at our sale. So here are our alternatives: cheese buns, zucchini loaf, banana muffins, blueberry muffins, strawberries dipped in dark chocolate ganache and fresh juice boxes. To understand a little more on what our local issue is you can visit our website: http://www.tappoliceofthegreatlakes.wordpress.com or our twitter account: @PoliceTap Thank you for your support.
