                 The Junior and Intermediate Books Clubs have chosen their next reads: This year’s Forest of Reading books have arrived in our library and so, based on popular demand: The  Junior Book Club  (grades 4-6) will read the Silver Birch nominee,   Apartment 713  by Kevin Sylvester .  Please get a copy of the book for next week, December 4th, and read the first chapter.  We meet every Monday at 12:15 in the library. The  Intermediate Book Club  (grades 7 and 8) will read the Red Maple nominee,  The Fort  by Gordon Gorman.   Please get a copy of the book for next week, December 5th, and read the first chapter.  We meet every Tuesday at 12:00 in the library. Hello Fern families, We’re four weeks away from the holidays, and the School Council has a lot planned to help our school community and help our neighbours!  We have FOUR interlocking pieces to connect with our community…. READ TO THE END 1. Fern Fun Flicks – The Grinch -- Thursday December 7 -- ALL PROCEEDS TO PARKDALE COMMUNITY FOOD BANK Movie starts at 6pm (doors open at 5:30).  Get your tickets * And volunteer or commit to the bake sale here:  sign up to volunteer . DONATION BINS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR FOOD DRIVE AND FOR TOY DRIVE (DETAILS BELOW) *We will set aside tickets for student volunteers, but ask parent volunteers to please remember to buy tickets for themselves and their kids. We sold out last time! So don’t forget to buy your tickets! 2. Community Toy Drive -- DEADLINE MONDAY DECEMBER 10! HELP US COLLECT A THOUSAND TOYS! Fern is partnering with Umoja Soccer School (Fern parent run), Scooter Girl, the Guardian Pharmacy, and Roncesvalles United, (and other local schools....)

Fern Fun Flicks Holiday Movie Night is on! Thursday, Dec 7 Doors open 5:30, movie starts at 6:00 All proceeds go to the Parkdale Community Food Bank * Don't miss out! Get your tickets and/or sign up to volunteer . Student volunteers will be comped a ticket and pizza slice. Adult volunteers should be sure to get tickets in advance. * Please note that we will have bins available for collecting non-perishable food items. There may also be a toy drive; stay tuned for more details.
