Me to We has started a new recycling and global health initiative!
Collect your batteries and bring them to the Fern School office. Our used batteries will be delivered to Teck, an organization that extracts the zinc from batteries so that it can be made into Zinc tablets. Did you know that 5.6 million children under 5 die each year from Zinc deficiency? Help save lives in rural Kenya AND reduce harmful landfill. Our goal is to collect 2,000 batteries and the drive runs through the month of November. Thank you for supporting the Me to We Club!

We Day 2019
Eight lucky grade 8 students attended We Day on September 19, 2019 and had the opportunity to hear inspirational messages from David Suzuki, Emilio Estevez and Nav Bhatia (Super fan) among many others. Here is what the grade 8’s thought of the day: “At We Day we got to see some environmentalists, poets, DJs, dancers, actors, singers and many more people. We Day was a very inspiring, moving and fun experience.” Riley “With all of the people cheering and being upbeat, it was hard not to stay positive” Liam “We Day was an inspiring and fun experience. I hope to go again.” Brinley “I really connected to David Suzuki’s speech. It was inspiring. Me to We Movie Afternoon
Fern’s Me to We Club is hosting a Movie Afternoon on Thursday March 7th for primary students. We are raising funds to support We Charity’s Agriculture and Food Security pillar. Specifically, we would like to support programs that train farmers on new techniques and local best practices, which can increase their yields and their incomes. This can directly impact a community’s health, access to education and life outcomes. Check out https://www.we.org/we-villages/food for more information. We are asking for a suggested donation of $5 per child for the movie and popcorn. A tax receipt will be issued for donations of $10 or greater. Please submit all donations to your child’s teacher. If you would like a tax receipt, please complete the form at the bottom and include in an enclosed envelope. Cheques should be made payable to Me to We. Fern’s Me to We Club is hosting a Movie Afternoon on Wednesday December 19th for kindergarten students We are raising funds to support Indspire , a national charity that invests in the education of Indigenous people for the long-term benefit of individuals, their families and communities, and Canada. Their vision is to enrich Canada through Indigenous education and by inspiring achievement. In partnership with Indigenous, private and public sector stakeholders, Indspire educates, connects and invests in Indigenous people so they will achieve their highest potential. We are asking for a suggested donation of $5 per child for the movie and popcorn. A tax receipt will be issued for donations of $20 or greater. Please submit all donations to your child’s teacher. We Scare Hunger 2018
Did you know that 850,000 people in Canada use foodbanks each month AND 36% of them are children? How can you help? Support Fern's Me to We Club's 8th annual We Scare Hunger campaign and d onate canned food from October 22 - October 31. Boxes will be available in all of the classrooms. Donations will go to the Good Shepherd Food Bank.
Me to We - New Members Meeting - October 24, 2018
Are you in grades 5 to 8 and interested in joining Fern's ME to WE club? WE is a movement that brings people together and gives them the tools to change the world. WE's goal is making doing good, doable. The club meets Wednesdays over the lunch recess. Join us at noon in room 211 on Wednesday October 24th to learn more about the club and pick up a registration form. A lottery will be used to fill the available spot.

Fern’s Me to WE presents Bee Nation on Indigenous Peoples Day June 21st at 6:30 in Fern’s auditorium $5 for the film, popcorn and a drink Lana Šlezić’s Bee Nation is a heart-warming and inspiring film about First Nations youth and their families in Saskatchewan who compete at their first-ever provincial and national Canadian Spelling Bee. All proceeds will support Indspire’s Indigenous programming ( indspire.ca )
