E-communications update

Upgrades to the Fern notice board

Thanks to the work of Roy Schulze (parent), our notice board now has a school calendar, which includes Fern School and TDSB events, as well as the daily Fern lunch program menu. Next step is to populate the calendar with more events. If you know of any school event that is not on the calendar, please email it to fernnoticeboard@gmail.com.

More improvements to the site are in the works - please check back.

How to submit events and messages to the notice board

Allan Lowson (parent) has set up a new email address for the communications committee to receive submissions for the notice board (calendar and all other postings): fernnoticeboard@gmail.com.

Some people have asked if their emails automatically appear on the notice board. The answer is no: all emails are read by a parent volunteer, and then posted, if they are directly connected with Fern Ave. Public School or the Toronto District School Board. Please send the message text as you wish it to appear, in the body of an email, with little or no formatting.

Emails out to the Fern School community

Allan is also setting up an email list service for the communications committee. By the end of next week we hope to have updated the email list with this year's group of email addresses. Once that is accomplished, we will begin sending regular email updates, 1-3 times per week, to the list. The emails are primarily a summary of recent notice board postings; the fastest way to get news is to check the notice board directly.

What is the communications committee, anyway?

We are a small assortment of parents volunteering whatever time and skills we can offer, to help improve communications among the grown-up members of the Fern School community - parents, teachers and administrators. More volunteers are welcomed. If you might have interest in participating on the committee, please email Amy Stein at amy.stein@sympatico.ca.
