HOWARD PUBLIC SCHOOL Promotes The OPERA

HOWARD MUSIC DEPARTMENT IS GOING TO THE OPERA
Four Seasons Centre
145 Queen St W
Howard Public School is coming to the end of our 2008/2009 Opera season. They would like to thank you once again for your continued support. A total of two hundred and eighty eight students/parents have attended the last four opera's; Don Giovanni, War and Peace, Fidelio and Rusalka.
It's now time to order your Opera tickets for the next three dress rehearsals, Simon Boccanegra, La Boheme and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Please note that there are some very important rules that the Canadian Opera Company has asked us to follow in order to keep getting these great bargain tickets. Please remember that the tickets are allotted on a ratio of 1 adult to 3 children. It would be wonderful if parents could plan ahead and take turns accompanying 3 students to the dress rehearsals. Ticket prices are $15 each. Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to see the operas in the great house that is Richard Bradshaw's legacy.
The dress rehearsals for the upcoming 2009 year are as follows:
Simon Boccanegra (Verdi) Tues. April 7, 2009 7:30pm 3hrs 15min
La Boheme (Puccini) Wed. April 15, 2009 7:30pm 2hrs 30min
A Midsummer Night Dream Sat. May 2, 2009 7:30pm 3hrs 15min
When ordering your tickets, you will be asked to provide the names of the persons for whom you are ordering tickets. The students can be older siblings, peers or cousins. Payment is due at the time of order (by cheque made out to "Howard Music Fund" or cash) - no orders will be accepted without payment. Because we have to purchase the tickets in advance no refunds can be given. If you cannot attend a performance, you are free to give or sell your tickets to another interested student.
If you would like tickets for one of the three upcoming performances please fill in the form and have it returned to the music room by 3:30pm on Friday, March 13, 2009 (firm deadline). Tickets will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis. These dress rehearsals are each fully staged productions just a few days prior to opening night. Mrs. Spademan will introduce these opera's to the grade 4, 5 and 6 classes over the next few weeks.
We look forward to seeing you at the Opera.

Simon Boccanegra (Verdi) Tuesday, April 7, 2009 7:30 pm 3hr 15min
Simon Boccanegra's election as the first Doge of Genoa unites the warring city. The return of his long-lost daughter exposes shifting alliances and conspiracies that threaten to plunge the city back into chaos. Verdi's powerful score highlights the political intrigue of medieval Italy and the rise and fall of man of the people, whose rise to power mirrors the loss of all he holds dear.
