Dates and Locations
Conference meet- Monday May 11th at York University
Conference Championships- Thursday June 4th at York University
City Championships- Wednesday June 10th at U of T
Departure : 8:30a.m. You should meet in the auditorium 15 minutes prior to departure time.
Our 1500m runners will have to leave earlier (event starts at 8:30a.m.)
Arrival: The first bus will be back before the end of the school day with the primary students. The second bus will be back at approximately 5:00p.m. with the junior/senior students.
Track and field practices
Primary students will be practicing their events at Fern Ave. P.S. during school hours with coach Andrew Archdiken
Junior and Senior students will be practicing their events on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (8:00-8:50) with coaches Bogdan Nikolajevic and Sarantos Katsihtis.
Things to do bring at the track and field meet
WATER-lots of it
HEALTHY SNACKS-fruits, veggies, sandwiches, power bars, etc
SUNSCREEN-cover exposed skin completely prior to putting on your uniform
HAT OR VISTOR-cannot be worn when competing
WEAR COMPLETE UNIFORM
GAMES AND BOOKS-cards, travel games, books
SWEATS/WARM-UP-OUTFIT/ RUNNING SHOES
Things to do at the track meet
Upon arrival, check in at the tables or with your age group coach.
Event tags are worn on the jersey for all events.
No one can compete without an official event tag with a competitor number.
Students need to know where their coaches and meeting places are. Athletes are responsible for themselves and for checking in with their coach upon hearing FIRST CALL for their event.
With a team of over 75 athletes, it is impossible for coaches to locate each child prior to his or her event. It is VITAL that every athlete listens for calls because events WILL NOT be delayed in an effort to locate you.
STAY OUT OF THE SUN & RELAX!
Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day!!! A little at a time.
NO SODA as this is only depletes the body of fluids resulting in cramps.
Keep stands clean and pick up after yourselves before leaving.
THE INFIELD IS OFF LIMITS FOR ALL NON-COMPETING ATHLETES AND NON-MEET VOLUNTEERS, NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
Meeting Places
UMBRELLA/CANOPY- Our school will set up a canopy outside the stadium.
STADIUM STANDS- We will have a section on the stands with adult supervision
If you would like to be a volunteer at the track and field meet please inform our coaches.
