Arts Committee - Spring Update

Beast Feast Video
We hope everyone is listening to their Katherine Wheatley CD from her "Youth Songs" project with 12 of our classes in December.

Now you can watch a video too!!! Mr. Roy Morra and Ms. Sonya Mably's grade 6 class made some beautiful illustrations of their song, and Mr. Morra put together a "Beast Fest" video of their work.

We highly recommend you check it out and pass it on; it's amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ah4hDPwfcIM&feature=youtu.be

There are still CD's for sale — please ask at the Fern office if you'd like one.

The Arts Committee would like to thank Mr. Roy Morra for going above and beyond for his students. What a terrific way to showcase the music, art and efforts of these amazing kids.

Thanks to all the students for their hard work and creativity!!!

Storyteller
On March 2nd we had Nathalie Vachon come in and do 3 shows for the primary students. Her "Imagination On The Loose" stories to spark the imagination show was a big success. Nathalie did her first ever bilingual show for our French students and got a very positive response. We hope she will continue to bring her beautiful stories to the French and English community. Thank you to those parents who brought in their $2 contribution towards the show. Half the students contributed making it possible to have 3 shows and include every primary student. We hope this helped to inspire students to enjoy stories, create their own and continue the long tradition of storytelling.

The Living Language Artist
On March 26th-30th we have the talented Mr. Steven McCabe coming to work with our grades 4, 5, and 6 classes. Steven will be doing a creative language and poetry visual art project with the students. Working from line drawings to the evolution of poems, Steven will explore earth, space and matter with the students. Keep your eyes out for the results of this project in the school!

Tapestry Artist
Patricia Phelan will be joining us every Wednesday and Thursday in April to bring her creative talents to a Grade 4 and 5 class. Students will be examining the famous Medieval textile: The Bayeux Tapestry. They will use this design to create their own collaborative "Tapestry" depicting modern times. We look forward to displaying this finished piece!

Ache Brazil Show
Keep your eyes open for the Ache Brazil tickets coming soon! On April 19th, Fern will host the Ache Brazil Capoeira dancers. This show represents the culture, traditions, beliefs, and the music and movement of the people of Brazil. This will be a spectacular show that you won't want to miss!

Thank you from the Arts Committee. This should be a creative and exciting spring!
