ATTENTION! The Fern Eco Team Needs Your Help!

The Eco Team will be hosting an Eco Fair at the end of the month (March 29-April 1).

The sale will take place every lunch hour and after school until 4pm. This is a great opportunity for students to read some previously loved books, listen to some 'new' music and play some favourite games!

We are asking our school community for donations of used books (children/adult), used DVDs and CDs, used video games and magazines. March seems to be a good time as it encourages families to do some spring cleaning over the next few weeks.

The donation drop-off location is Room 105 on the main floor. Please feel free to drop off any donated items either before or after school. Please stay tuned for more details from The Eco Team on the Fern Blog.

Congrats Grade 8 Girls Volleyball!

Congratulations to Fern's grade 8 girls volleyball team for an amazing season this year! Our team players committed to three months of practices with an energy and skill progression that was contagious. By the time we played our first tournament, our team had become really skilled with an amazing set-up and return volleyball game. We had a string of 12 consecutive wins in exhibitions and TDSB tournaments and playoffs games. Our team played at a very high level of volleyball throughout and was well prepared for the south Toronto final against Deer Park. The game went to a third set that was closely contested with many lead changes. The ending was exciting but did not fall in our favour, with a 3 point loss margin. Deer Park, a very good team, went on to win the TDSB Toronto city championship. It is bittersweet knowing that Fern team came that close to winning the City championship, however we feel very proud for our season and bringing back to Fern Avenue the south city finalist

Choir Performing at the Spring Concert

Dear Families,  We are so happy to have such a large enthusiastic choir!   Fern's wonderful students in Choir have been practicing two songs for the Spring Concert on April 18th.  They are: The Best Day of my life and My Own Superhero. Here are some notes regarding the Spring Concert:  *We will be walking to Parkdale Collegiate for a run through after morning attendance on Thursday April the 18th at 9:20 am.  (Two primary of our classes will be on a field trip and choir members in those classes will not attend the run through. ) **Volunteers are very welcome to walk with the Choir to and from Parkdale Collegiate. (Meet at 9 am at Fern)   *We aim to be back by lunch, however sometimes runthroughs take a while. Therefore please pack snacks and water with your child for the day. We will eat lunch when we return.     * The evening of The concert, students are to be at Parkdale Collegiate for 6:00 PM . * Students in the concert are encouraged to wear all black.  *Caregiver/ Parent pick
