TTC Track Renewal (Dundas and Lansdowne) + Road Resurfacing (Dufferin Street) - Pre Construction Notice
The City of Toronto will be undertaking two projects in proximity to your school starting in September. These projects are part of the Council-approved 2018 Capital Works Program. Attached I have the Pre-Construction notice for the schools records.
As your school is within proximity to the work, I thought it would be beneficial to forward this Pre-Construction Notice to you. This notice will also be posted on the Downtown Construction website (www.toronto.ca/downtownconstructionprojects) for reference as well.
1. TTC Track Intersection Renewal at Dundas Street West and Lansdowne Avenue
The City of Toronto and Toronto Transit Commission will be renewing aging streetcar tracks at the intersection of Lansdowne and Dundas Street West. This is the second of three track replacement projects in recent years required for the Lansdowne/Dundas/College triangle. The expected start date of the work is: September 3rd, and expected end date is: October 5th. To accommodate this work, the intersection will be completely closed. Sidewalks will remain accessible, and pedestrians will be detoured safely around the work area.
Local access will be provided up to the intersection closure for property owners and businesses. No Frills Plaza south of Dundas should be accessed from Lansdowne Avenue. Through traffic motorists should consider:
· Using Bloor Street West or Queen Street West for East-West movement
· Using Roncesvalles or Ossington for North-south movement
· TTC track staff will use the track area on Dundas Street West beyond the Dundas/Lansdowne intersection to store new rail being used for the intersection
2. City Road Resurfacing on Dufferin Street from Bloor Street West to Dundas Street West
The City will also resurface Dufferin Street from Bloor Street to Dundas Street West. Dufferin street will be reduced to one lane in each direction in the work zone. The expected start date of the work is: September 3rd, and expected end date is: November 30th.
Phase 1: Road Resurfacing and Sidewalk Repair:
· September 3 to October 31: (Dufferin Street Bloor Street W. to College Street )
Phase 2: Road Resurfacing and Sidewalk Repair:
· November 1 to 30: (Dufferin Street College Street to Dundas Street W.)
Please let me know if there are any questions. This notice, and any subsequent updates will also be posted on the Downtown Construction website (www.toronto.ca/downtownconstructionprojects).
