Give the Gift of Play this Holiday Season!
Those of you who attended one of the holiday concerts heard our pitch: we have until October 1, 2019 to raise another $100,000 in order to start construction of our playground in Spring of 2020. Ideally, we would raise $150k to ensure we get all the bells and whistles.
How Much Should I Donate?
We have 704 students at Fern. If parents donated $150 per child, we would meet the threshold for the playground. For $215 per child we’d have $150,000, and could ensure that we replace the Primary and Kindergarten yard surfaces.
We know that $150-$215 per child is a big ask for some Fern families. But we also know that there are families for whom that is not a lot of money. If you are one of those fortunate families, consider giving more. For every dollar that you spend over and above the threshold of $150-215, you are helping subsidize another family for whom that level of donation is not possible. Maybe you have a baby or a toddler who is going to be a future Fern student, and who will enjoy the new playground for the duration of their school experience. Please consider giving on behalf of them, or as much as you are able.
For those Fern families for whom that level of financial commitment is not possible, please give what you can. We are grateful for any amount that you can donate. We also ask you to consider giving us something else of value: your time. We need many volunteers to run our fundraisers, our communications, our committees, and our parent engagement events. We will also be looking for silent auction items for future events, and if you can donate something like a gift certificate for your business, an in-kind donation of a product, or can connect us to a corporate donor, we’d love to hear from you.

If you want to make an electronic donation, go to TDSB school cash online or click the “School Cash Online” button at the top of blog. For donations over $25, School Cash Online will automatically email you a tax receipt.
After the concerts, we had many lovely grannies, grandpas, uncles and aunts asking us how they could donate to the playground. If they do not want to create a school cash online account, we still accept cheques made out to “Fern Ave P.S. School Council.”
