Current Status of the School Crossing Guard Program
Program Dear Parents/Guardians:
In August of 2019, the School Crossing Guard Program is to be transferred to the City of Toronto.
As a result, the Toronto Police Service will no longer to have any involvement in the administration or oversight of School Crossing Guard Program. City of Toronto Transportation Services will take over the administration of the Program, while day to day operations will be left to the selected private contractors.
On June 18th, 2019, the City of Toronto announced that two companies, Carraway Inc. and ASP Inc., won the contract to operate the Toronto School Crossing Guard Program. The two companies have signed a contract with the City for 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 school year. Negotiations between the Toronto School Crossing Guard Association and the City of Toronto concluded with the decision that all currently active Crossing Guards employed by the Toronto Police Service will be taken on by the new private contractors, providing they are fit for duty.
Therefore, as of August 1st, 2019, Toronto Police Service will have no further involvement with the School Crossing Guard Program.
All inquiries regarding hiring process or complaints about School Crossing Guards are to be forwarded to: • Carraway Inc. at 416-723-0451 or • ASP Inc. at 416-844-6893.
All inquiries about adding a new School Crossing Guard location are to be directed to: • The City of Toronto School Crossing Guard
