Message from School Council -- Join us Thursday, 8:15-8:45 am for a Walk-In!





Dear Fern Ave PS Parents and Caregivers,

Join your school community this Thursday October 10 from 8:15-8:45 AM as part of a province wide Walk-In to show your support for an accessible, equitable, properly funded public education system in Ontario.

What's a Walk-In?

Instead of walking out to show support for public education, a Walk-In is a gathering of the school community to show support for public education. Fern Ave PS will be one of hundreds of schools across Ontario participating in this action. We participated in our first Walk-In last June, and hundreds of parents and kids participated.

When and Where?

The Fern Ave PS community will gather in front of the school (Fern Ave side) at 8:15 a.m., then walk to Roncesvalles and back along Wright Ave to the schoolyard to gather until 8:45 a.m.

Why?

Your involvement is more important than ever to support the education sector workers who are trying to get funding for schools reinstated and reverse changes to curriculum and delivery of your child’s education (such as increased class sizes and mandatory e-learning for secondary students).

Anything Else I Should Know?

Wear Red for Ed(ucation), bring along a sign or noisemaker (or both), and bring your friends, neighbours, and KIDS!

This event is a School Council event, not a school sponsored event, and as such, will not be on the announcements at school. If you want your child to know about it and participate, you need to tell them!

Choir Performing at the Spring Concert

Dear Families,  We are so happy to have such a large enthusiastic choir!   Fern's wonderful students in Choir have been practicing two songs for the Spring Concert on April 18th.  They are: The Best Day of my life and My Own Superhero. Here are some notes regarding the Spring Concert:  *We will be walking to Parkdale Collegiate for a run through after morning attendance on Thursday April the 18th at 9:20 am.  (Two primary of our classes will be on a field trip and choir members in those classes will not attend the run through. ) **Volunteers are very welcome to walk with the Choir to and from Parkdale Collegiate. (Meet at 9 am at Fern)   *We aim to be back by lunch, however sometimes runthroughs take a while. Therefore please pack snacks and water with your child for the day. We will eat lunch when we return.     * The evening of The concert, students are to be at Parkdale Collegiate for 6:00 PM . * Students in the concert are encouraged to wear all black.  *Caregiver/ Parent pick
