Grade 4 Junior Extended French Program 2020-2021
Dear Parents/Guardians of Children in Grade Three,
You have a choice to make about French programming for your child. Your child can begin a Junior Extended French Program starting in Grade 4.
What is the Junior Extended French (GR.4) Program?
-half of the day is in French and half of the day is in English.
-The subjects taught in French are Language, Social Studies and The Arts.
-the subjects taught in English are English Language Arts, Math and Science.
Please note: the students in the Junior Extended French Program do not blend with the students from the Early French Immersion Program (SK entry).
To find the Junior Extended French school for your area, please visit the following website and enter the name of your English school in the designated search window: www.tdsb.on.ca/ElementarySchool/SchoolChoices/FrenchPrograms
Applications to the Junior Extended French are made the year your child is in Grade 3 for entry in September of Grade 4. It is an entirely online process. Application to begin this program is open to all students not already enrolled in an FSL program. All communication will be sent via the email address you provide. Please visit the application site www.tdsb.on.ca/pars
•You will need your child's date of birth and OEN. The OEN is a 9-digit number found on any report card from the TDSB or at the bottom of the package brought home, for non-TDSB students, please select the "Non-TDSB Student" option and follow the steps to generate an identification number. You must then return to the PARS site and follow the application procedure with this number
•Please select Junior Extended French from the drop-down menu and complete the application process. On-time applications will be offered a placement online via the email address you have provided. You MUST take action to accept this placement by the deadline requested when you are offered a placement. Offers of placement will be on-going through the weeks and months following the close of the application period. Please check your email regularly.
IMPORTANT DATES: Application process opens: January 06, 2020 Deadline for applications: January 31st, 2020
Please note: While every effort will be made to place students in the school identified as their area French program school, this is not always possible. In cases where the number of applications in a given area is greater than the number of spaces in the school, students may be redirected to schools with available space.
NOTE: Placements are made based on the address provided prior to the application deadline. If the home address changes between the application deadline and the fall of the Grade 4 year, there is no guarantee of placement in the new Junior Extended French area. Applicants who have older siblings currently enrolled in the program and who will be in attendance the following year have a priority placement in that school.
