Your donations at work...

Do you ever wonder where all of the money goes that Fern School Council raises from our various events?

Here are some of the things we spent money on this school year:

·         $2,000 to each division (Kindergarten, Primary, Junior, Senior), for a total of $8,000, to support learning objectives:

o   Kindergarten division bought French books, STEM materials (pipe builders, tabletop light panel, measuring pipettes), outdoor equipment (buckets, shovels, sieves)

o   Primary division brought in a play (Finding Home: A Salmon Journey up the Humber River)

o   Junior division bought STEM materials (pulleys, scales, gears, magnets)

o   Senior division bought French books and registration for all Grade 7s and 8s to participate in the Gauss Math Contest

·         $3,700 to bring Mad Science into every Kindergarten and Primary classroom

·         $2,600 to bring three performances into the school

o   The Money Tree for Grades 1-5

o   Haida Stories for Grades 4-6

o   Outside for Grades 6-8

·         $2,000 to support the Junior and Senior Book Clubs’ participation in the Forest of Reading program

·         $1,300 on the Community Builders workshop for adults & children to learn about building a safe and inclusive community

·         $700 on English & French library books

·         Donated $3,600 to Parkdale Community Food Bank (proceeds from our December and February Movie Nights)

We have lots of exciting projects planned for next school year, including a mural, scooter shed, playground benches, and so much more. If you have ideas for School Council to consider, send us an email at fernaveschoolcouncil@gmail.com
