Walking To School • Practice good role modelling by walking with your child and showing them road safety rules so that they can develop good habits. • Wear bright, reflective clothing or accessories in cloudy or dark conditions so drivers can see you better. • Teach your child to use their eyes and ears. Always stop, look and listen, even if there is a crossing guard, or traffic signals. • Stop and check that cars in every lane can see you and make eye contact with the drivers. Wait until drivers have stopped before crossing the road. • Look left, right and left again. Teach your child to cross the road only when the way is clear, or all the cars at the crosswalk or intersection have come to a full stop. Children shouldn’t cross the road between parked cars or mid-block. • Listen for oncoming traffic and be alert. Program Dear Parents/Guardians:  In August of 2019, the School Crossing Guard Program is to be transferred to the City of Toronto. As a result, the Toronto Police Service will no longer to have any involvement in the administration or oversight of School Crossing Guard Program. City of Toronto Transportation Services will take over the administration of the Program, while day to day operations will be left to the selected private contractors.  On June 18th, 2019, the City of Toronto announced that two companies, Carraway Inc. and ASP Inc., won the contract to operate the Toronto School Crossing Guard Program. The two companies have signed a contract with the City for 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 school year. While the rest of us start summer vacation, the teachers will still be in school on the PA Day, Friday, June 28 . To show our appreciation for their hard work, School Council will be providing a potluck breakfast to start their day of meetings and packing up classrooms. Interested in learning what it takes to create a radio show and broadcast on air? At Ryerson's CJRU Radio Camp students will learn: - Writing and recording short radio pieces and PSAs - Radio Interviews and reviews - Writing and performing a radio play - Making sound effects and experimenting with sound - Hosting a one hour live music program at the end of the week This camp runs from July 22nd to July 26th for students aged 8-12 and is hosted at Ryerson University.
