Message from the Principal
Dear Parents/Guardians of grade 7 and 8 students,
We have received reports of possible Fern Avenue students breaking in to the abandoned building in Sorauren Park during the lunch hour, playing on the roof and throwing things from it onto the ground. This is clearly a safety risk, and possibly illegal. I have made an announcement today indicating this behaviour clearly contravenes our school expectations of conduct.
The park is used as a gathering place by students from several neighbouring schools. In order to prevent any mishap, I am asking you to speak to your child about your own expectations of their safety and their decisions regarding this unsupervised time period.
I have further contacted the community response Unit at 11 Division to alert them of this situation and requested that they increase their street presence in the area, particularly over the lunch period.
Thank you.
Mr. Moy
