News from the Principal's Office: Happy Hallowe'en 2020
This year, there will be some changes to how Hallowe'en can be recognized and celebrated at school. Regular masks/face coverings must be worn and not replaced with costume masks. In line with physical distancing practices, school parades and dances are not allowed. Students may bring their own individualized snacks but are not allowed to share their snacks with other students.
As Hallowe'en approaches we wanted to remind you of some important information about a safe Hallowe'en. We recognize that not all students observe this celebration and participation is voluntary.
Hallowe'en Classroom Costume Information- Friday Oct. 30th , 2020:
-As per our usual Hallowe'en festivities, students may choose to wear a costume to school for the day on Friday, October 30th.
-Students will continue to be required to wear a mask/face covering.
-A costume mask is not a substitute for a cloth mask or face covering and should not be worn over a cloth mask as it may make it difficult to breathe.
-Individual classrooms may choose to hold Hallowe'en activities as they choose (following all safety protocols).
-We suggest you label your child's costume with their name.
Costume Information: A reminder that costumes that depict excessive violence or are exploitative in nature are not in the spirit of the children's holiday or Fern P.S. culture. Please do not send weapons, replicas of weapons, knives, guns, swords etc. if these are part of your child's costume. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Hallowe'en Classroom Activities, Friday October 30th, 2020:
-If your child's class is having a party, please note that we will continue to have students bring their own snacks, due to the present restrictions, there will be no sharing of food between students.
-Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or the office.

Both Ontario Public Health and Toronto Public Health encourage families to celebrate Hallowe'en 2020 in a safe and fun way. While it will look different this year, there are still many ways to have fun and celebrate safely.
