Flags at Half-Mast : Remembering the Children in Residential Schools

Our Fern school community stands with others in our grief and sadness at the discovery of the 215 children whose remains were uncovered in a mass unmarked grave in B.C. Our flag is flying at half-mast in honour of these children.

As educators, we know that we have work to do to teach the truth about this shameful and tragic part of Canada's past. It is only through this work that there will be reconciliation.

As you walk past our school this weekend, you will see drawings on the sidewalks and ribbons on our fence put there by staff and families as a way of reinforcing and remembering that EVERY CHILD MATTERS.
