Fernapalooza (Fun Fair Lite) is Coming - June 9, 5-8pm, Fern Yard!

We really wanted to have some sort of celebration, but didn't want to do the big ticket, big expense rides and what not for a bunch of reasons -- TDSB approved vendors are making up for lost time, and the cost and risk were too much for this year.

So we're doing an epic, old school meets new school school yard family fun night instead. BBQ! Old school yard games! DJ! Baking Competition! Silent Auction! Bake Sale!

What do we need from you?

Volunteer: Yours OR your kids' time
Here's your chance to put in a half hour, an hour, or more, to volunteer. Many hands will lighten the load all around. Please go to https://signup.com/go/pGUmMnL to sign up for a volunteer shift at the games, the bake sale, face painting etc.

If you have a child in your house who'd like to volunteer, we have designated some shifts as "adult," but any other shifts can be kids grade 6-8 (or your high schooler who needs volunteer hours). Please don't sign up your younger child for a shift, but you are welcome to sign up yourself and bring them along.

Bake! Bake Sale AND Baking Competition! Cookies, cupcakes, brownies, rice krispy squares -- heck, we've sold Wagon Wheels before.

Please use the volunteer sign up form https://signup.com/go/kuqtuUT to let us know what you’ll be baking. Small items to sell at $1 or $2 are perfect for our bake sale table. More details to follow about drop-off logistics. Please contact Rachel at rachel.gruet@gmail.com with any questions.

And for the first time ever... The Great Fern Cake Off!
We know you are a crafty bunch, so here's your chance to decorate a cake for competition! The best part? We will auction off the cakes at the end of the competition. Drop off at Fern Ave on June 9. Contact: jessica.chester@fmsassociates.com for more details.

Your Gently Used Stuffies and Books: Kids can get prizes for playing yard games.
Please donate your lightly used stuffies and books to be used as prizes. Please email boothhanna@gmail.com if you have anything to donate. Donations can be dropped off at 105 Wright Ave on your way to and from school. There will be blue bins at the back of the walk way for drop off, but pick up is available if needed.

Auction Items of Services - Silent Auction: Those of you who've been to Spring Fling in the "before times" will know we usually have a massive Silent Auction. This one will be scaled down, but still fun. Please reach out to michael@slocar.ca if you have items to donate to the Silent Auction. We will be collecting until Monday, June 6

Finally...
Barrier Free Event
We do need to cover our costs and we'd like to make a little cash, but it's more important we have a chance to celebrate after two years of no events. We will keep costs low for this event: most games will be free and the BBQ will be in the $5 per person range to keep it accessible to everyone. If the cost of the BBQ is prohibitive for your family, please check in with Rosanna, Vice Principal Steve Lefkos, or School Council co-chair Alison McLean at fernaveschoolcouncil@gmail.com
