International Holocaust Remembrance Day: January 27th
January 27th is designated by the United Nations General Assembly as International Holocaust Remembrance Day (IHRD). Since 2005, the UN and its member states have held commemoration ceremonies to mark the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and to honor the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and millions of other victims of Nazism. On this day, all around the world, people of good will gather to remember the victims of the Holocaust and pledge themselves to creating a world that is free of antisemitism, bigotry, hatred and violence.
Fern grade 8 students have been invited to be the live audience at our 5050 Yonge St Board Office for a conversation with Holocaust survivor Pinchas Gutter. We look forward to this great learning opportunity for our students.
