Fun Fair/Fernapalooza Is Coming -- June 9th, 5pm - 8pm!


It's back -- the community party you've been waiting for! Yard games (musical chairs, three legged race, sack race, football toss, fishing....), BBQ, bake sale, cake decorating competition, cake auction... It'll take you back to the school sports days/funfairs of your youth! 

But we need a lot of help to get this party off the ground.... 

Things We Need for the Fun Fair:

1. More volunteers and baked goods

This list includes the sign-up for bringing baked goods for the bake sale and jobs at the Fair. Encourage your grade 7 and 8's and your teens who need volunteer hours to sign up too. 

2. Canopy/Tents
Last year it was a hot evening, and we were grateful for the shade for things like the DJ booth, bake sale etc. Please email us at fernaveschoolcouncil@gmail.com if you have any tents/canopies we can borrow.

3. Cake Competition Captain
We'd love for someone to drive his bus with our help. We have a couple of judges lined up, but we'd like someone to coordinate things on the night of the event. Please reach out if you can help to fernaveschoolcouncil@gmail.com. 

4. Sign Captain
Again, we'd really appreciate it if someone could volunteer to take this on. In the past, people have gathered a bunch of kids and supplies and made signs for the event. We would provide you with a list of signs we need. Please reach out to fernaveschoolcouncil@gmail.com. 

5. Prizes
We are collecting gently used stuffies, toys, and books for the prize table. Start collecting your used treasures! Anyone looking to offload gently used (washed) stuffies, books or small toys can drop them to the bins in front of 105 Wright Ave. or in the school foyer. 

These prizes will be available for kids in exchange for tickets earned by playing fun fair games.

6. Mystery Bags
Mystery Bags are new this year! They will be on sale for $5 each from the start of the event until they sell out. Participation is fully optional. More details to follow in your kids' bags!

Fern Running Club

Happy Monday Fern Falcons!  And Happy Earth Day.  We will have a running club, open to students of all ages, every Friday morning, from 8:30-9:00am, around the track.  Kindergarten students must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children in other grades are welcome to drop in and join us, and then will be dismissed when regular yard duty begins at 9:00am.  This is a club, and not a team, there will be no tryouts, there will be no meet/competition. We will be running for ourselves and promoting movement, the joy of running, and healthy habits.  Feel free to join us. Spring Fling 2024: Taylor's Version

As we gear up for one of the neighbourhood’s most exciting and fun-filled events, we are delighted to announce the details for our school's biggest fundraiser, the Spring Fling! Get ready for a night of laughter, dancing, and community spirit.  Our 12 th  Annual  Spring Fling Fundraiser  will be held on Friday, May 24th, 2024, at St. Casimir’s, 156 Roncesvalles Avenue, beginning at 7:00 p.m. There’s something for everyone: fantastic food, a well-stocked bar, a great local DJ, some serious parent moves on the dance floor and a fabulous silent auction. Choir Performing at the Spring Concert

Dear Families,  We are so happy to have such a large enthusiastic choir!   Fern's wonderful students in Choir have been practicing two songs for the Spring Concert on April 18th.  They are: The Best Day of my life and My Own Superhero. Here are some notes regarding the Spring Concert:  *We will be walking to Parkdale Collegiate for a run through after morning attendance on Thursday April the 18th at 9:20 am.  (Two primary of our classes will be on a field trip and choir members in those classes will not attend the run through. ) **Volunteers are very welcome to walk with the Choir to and from Parkdale Collegiate. (Meet at 9 am at Fern)   *We aim to be back by lunch, however sometimes runthroughs take a while. Therefore please pack snacks and water with your child for the day.
